Anemone tubers are best planted in autumn, between September and December, before the first frost sets in. This gives the tubers enough time to form roots before winter begins.

As a rule of thumb, plant the tubers at a depth of about two to three times their own height (roughly 5 cm deep). Also allow sufficient spacing between the tubers, usually 10 to 15 cm, depending on the size of the variety.
Do Anemone need a lot of sun?
Do Anemone need a lot of sun?
Anemone (blanda) grows best in a sunny to partially shaded location. It likes well-draining soil and does less well in shady, damp conditions.
Are Anemoon bulbs perennial, do they come back every year?
Are Anemoon bulbs perennial, do they come back every year?
Anemone (blanda) are hardy, perennial tubers. Provided they are planted in the right spot and the tubers don't rot from excess moisture, they will return year after year and often naturalize and spread on their own, forming lovely drifts over time.
Note: This applies to tuber types like Anemone blanda. Anemone coronaria doesn't always come back in cold winters. Japanese anemones grow from a different kind of root and spread even faster once they settle in.
